Everything You Need To Know About Golf Club Ratings

Golf club ratings measure all sorts of things about the equipment that, one hopes, gets the ball from the tee to the green to the hole. You need to understand the ratings before you go shopping for golf clubs to determine if one club or another is the right club for you.

After twenty-five years of being a shoes and attire company, Nike appeared on the golf kit scene in the latter 1990s and has proved itself as a sector leader in a comparatively short period of time. Nike has a large number of positive golf club ratings for its drivers. Rated for accuracy and reliability, the op rated Nike golf drivers are the Nike 350cc forged driver 10.5 degree, and the Nike 450 cc driver. Nike’s CPR woods are also highly regarded, getting a 4.5 out of five possible points at a popular golfing club rating site. Nike’s highest rated golf club driver, however, is the SasQuatch Sumo 460, receiving a 4.59 rating out of 5 points. The SasQuatch won Golfing Digest’s Editor’s Choice award for drivers in 2006.

One SasQuatch reviewer wrote, “I cannot count how often my ordinary playing partners ‘demanded’ to hit this driver.” Another wrote, ” Fast seven month upgrade. Still crazy about this club. ” The user wrote that he managed to concentrate on his short game now the Nike SasQuatch driver Nike SasQuatch driver had gotten his long game in order. Finally, a third reviewer wrote that he got “huge distance, literally unbelievable forgiveness, yet workable when you want it to be.” The rater urged everyone who reads golf club ratings to “buy this, not some ‘draw’ or ‘fade’ driver of a weight adjustable club.”

Titleist is more of a long term player in the golfing equipment industry. Golfing club ratings for Titelist clubs exhibit the highest rated Titleist driver is the Titleist 905T driver. However, the Titleist golf club ratings were inferior compared to the Nike club ratings. When reading golf club ratings on the Internet, beware of ratings that sound too good to be true and find nothing at all to criticize about the club. Some manufacturers or promoting firms hire independent writes to scribble positive product reviews of products they haven’t even attempted before. When reading an internet review, push the user’s name and see what other product she or he has reviewed. People tend to get a reputation on the Internet, and by reading a few reviews this person has written, you will better be able to assess how much value to give their golf club ratings.

The Par 3 Tournament – An Integral Part Of The Masters

June 29, 2010 by

In 1960 Clifford Roberts started the Par 3 tournament as a way of keeping competitors relaxed before the event starts the next day. Some players take this event seriously whilst others use it as a relaxing afternoon of golf before the tournament proper. The par 3 tournament is seen as a celebration of masters folklore, all the legends gather to participate in this event. Have you considered getting 2011 Masters tickets? Did you know you can get tickets to the par 3 tournament? Let’s discuss what makes the par 3 tournament so great.

The holes

This is a nine hole par 3 course set out on land to the east of the original course. The layout incorporates many lakes and ponds and all holes range in distance between the short second at 70 yards right through to the sixth, the longest at 140 yards. The ground staff have the par 3 course in pristine condition, exactly the same as the real course. These greens are very undulating, difficult to putt but with one advantage: most greens have a large tier in them where the ball will funnel to the hole. Each year at least one hole in one is recorded due to the skill of the player and the design of the green. This provides a thrill to patrons and competitors alike.

The caddies

The par 3 tournament has turned into a family affair. The regular caddies get the afternoon off and replaced by daughters, grandaughters, sons and grandsons. They usually wear caddy overalls that are too big and carry mini carry bags for their father or grandfather. The real thrill and entertainment comes when they are called into action. The young caddies are usually asked to hit shots across the pond and onto the green. Even the smallest caddies are given the opportunity to putt the ball out and convert the tee shots of their player with full sized putters. The crowd enjoys the show, many youngsters show they have a future in the game by hitting quality shots and holing putts.

The myth (curse?)

Since the par 3 tournament has been played, no player has won the par 3 tournament on the Wednesday and gone on to win the tournament. Many of the games best players have claimed victory in the par 3 tournament. The curse is now 50 years old and still to be lifted.

Masters Tickets – Watch The Action On Amen Corner

June 29, 2010 by

The Masters tournament held every April at Augusta National Golf Club is an electrifying experience. Some people dream of playing the course. Some people just dream of going to the course and feeling the atmosphere, smelling the azaleas and watching the best players in the world ply their trade. Although masters tickets have been sold out for 30+ years, you can still experience the action at Augusta through several means so you can be at the famous amen corner on Sunday.

Every golfer who has watched the masters knows about amen corner, how a player performs on these holes has a significant bearing on their place in the tournament. Let’s explore the start of the back nine and what makes these holes so tough.

The 10th hole Camelia

The back nine begins with traditionally the toughest hole on the golf course. The hole plays severely downhill and doglegs from right to left. The drive must be shaped from right to left and be taken down the left half of the fairway. The left side of the fairway has a more extreme downslope where extra distance can be achived. The left half of the fairway is also flatter than the right half and also offers the best angle to approach the green. A player who is unable to hit the correct tee shot is faced with a longer second shot. Possibly up two clubs longer, from a downslope with a 5 iron to a green protected by a bunker. Did I mention the green runs away from the player?!. Sounds tough? The historical rank of the par 4 10th is 4.32, in 2010 only 24 birdies were made here the entire week.

The 11th hole White Dogwood

The 11th is fast catching the 10th as the hardest hole on the course. This hole has been adjusted several times in recent years. In short the tee has been moved back so the hole now plays at 500 yards, trees added to the right side of the fairway and the fairway shifted left. Now a tee shot of 265 yards is required to reach the fairway on this hole. Players must hit a power fade off the tee to fit the hole correctly. A block will see the ball richochet around the right trees where it is almost impossible to reach the green in two. The second shot to the green is played with a long iron downhill to a green protected by the pond on the left side. A safe shot is to the right edge of the green leaving a chip or long putt. This hole is popular amongst patrons holding masters tickets. From the mound overlooking the 12th tee you can see players putt out on the 11th, play the entire 12th hole and drive off the 13th tee.

The 12th hole Golden Bell

The shortest of all the holes at Augusta, but this one shot is packed with pressure. This hole is only 155 yard short to mid iron across rae’s creek to a shallow green. However the swirling winds make this hole so tough. Basically the player must control the distance of their tee shot on this hole or perish. The front of the green is mowed very closely to allow the balls to run back into the water. Azaleas protect the back of the green and leave a treacherous up and down. The smart play here is to hit the ball at the bunker in the middle front of the green. This means that any approach left short will be in the bunker instead of the creek. This hole is historically ranked the second hardest on the course

The 13th hole Azalea

This is classic risk reward par 5 that plays at 510 yards. A slight draw must be hit from the tee to give the player the shortest possible second shot. A drive that is pushed right finishes on the pine straw with trees blocking the escape. The 2nd shot is played from a right to left slope on the fairway to a green that is angled from left to to right and away from the golfer. A misjudged approach to the front green will catch Rae’s creek.. Many players have seen there chances ruined on this hole. You can buy tickets to 2011 masters and watch all of the action on the famous amen corner. You will see birdies, eagles and players lose their chance of winning all in the space of three action packed holes.

The Masters Tournament – Be A Part Of History In 2011

June 29, 2010 by

The Masters tournament is a historical event. It is golf’s only major championship that is played at the one venue. It is the only major that works by invitation only and is completely controlled by the masters tournament commitee. That is the PGA, PGA Tour and the USGA have little say in how the tournament is structured. The masters tournament is steep in history, secure your masters tickets and be part of the rich history that surrounds the tournament and the Augusta National Golf Club.

The tournament was originally titled the Augusta National invitational and was first won by Horton Smith in 1934. The tournament came into the spotlight from the “shot heard around the world” when Gene Sarazen holed out for an albatross in 1935 on the 15th hole. This enabled Sarazen to tie Craig Wood, who he beat in a 36 hole playoff. Between 1943 and 1945 the tournament was not played due to World War Two.

The tournament was dominated in the 1950′s by two legends; Sam Snead and Ben Hogan. In 1958, the king Arnold Palmer burst onto the scene to win his first of four green jackets. In 1961, the first non american to win the masters was seen when Gary Player claimed the green jacket. Then two years later, the golden bear Jack Nicklaus won his first green jacket. In 1968 Roberto DiVicenzo was wrote and signed for the wrong score on the 17th hole. The extra stroke cost him a spot in the playoff with Bob Goalby.

In 1975 Lee Elder changed the course of history by becoming the first African American to play the masters, this occured 15 years before the club allowed its first black member. To this day, the club still does not allow female members. A sign of the elitist nature of the membership there.

The Europeans dominated the 1980′s and 1990′s at the Masters. One of golf’s greatest moments came in 1986 when Jack Nicklaus won his sixth green jacket at a record 46 years of age, shooting 30 on the back nine. Greg Norman had his hopes shattered the second year in a row by local player Larry Mize. Mize sank a 45 yard chip shot in a sudden death playoff to defeat Greg Norman. Norman was in a1 position on the right edge of the green waiting to two putt for the win.

In 1996 Norman squandered a six shot lead to lose to Nick Faldo. 1997 saw the emergence of Tiger Woods who won his first major. At 21 years old, he was the youngest ever winner. He also broke the tournament record with 18 under par and also won by a record margin: 12 shots. Tiger also created history in 2001 when his victory secured the ‘Tiger Slam.’ Meaning he held all 4 majors simultaneously but not in the same year.

Ten years on, be at Augusta to witness history

Laser Putting Alignment System – Practice Your Putting With This Great Aid

June 28, 2010 by

A lightweight (Class 3) laser housed in a durable ABS plastic case that attaches to a player’s putter face with adhesive tabs. The laser is activated by pressing a button when the player grips the putter.

The Laser Putting Alignment System is factory calibrated. Because it is physically mounted to the putter face you can be very assured that the laser is pointing exactly where the putter is aimed.

The thumb trigger is positioned smartly so the player does not have to change his/her grip pressure to activate the laser. This will assure that the putter face doesn’t rotate when the trigger is pressed.

The shape of the laser unit does not interfere with any optics between the putter and the ball.

A “squared” putter face looks different when a golf ball is present than when one is not. Using the Laser Putting Alignment System simulates having a ball present, even when one is not.

In addition, the wings of the laser unit (where the laser mounts to the putter face) act as guides to ensure center of percussion contact with the golf ball. If you want to make sure you are square from 3 or 30 feet, there is no simpler, better-designed laser alignment device on the market.

Here are some tips to get the most out of the Laser Putting Alignment System:

Practice short putts of 3 to 6 feet. Not, of course, to the total exclusion of longer putts, but your time is best spent grooving a putting stroke and mental attitude that gets the ball in the hole consistently on short putts. Better short putting will also lead to better long putting as you become more confident of your return putts.

Do most of your practice on a very level putting surface. Try rolling balls from the hole or target towards the spot where you intend to put your putts. Try it the other way aswell. Once you have your spot, start practicing. If you know the putt is a straight put, and you know that the face of the putter is aimed at the hole, but the ball drops in at the side each time, that is useful feedback. Breaking putts are so dependent upon speed that it makes certainty (of aim and stroke) difficult to achieve.

Many stance and alignment devices exist on the market, and there are only a few products players may hit shots off of. The Vision Track takes the best elements of both types of product and combines them.

The T shaped body provides foot and ball distance marks while the swingpath arm provides a visual reference for the player to look at when hitting balls.

This unique training method gets the player to focus on swinging the clubhead over one of 3 eyespots behind the ball rather than focusing on hitting the ball, the equivalent of pretending the ball isn’t there and making your best swing.

Last, a small path indicator arm is used to insure the player approaches the golf ball from the inside. If the swing comes across the line from outside-to-in at all the indicator will be knocked out of place. May be used right or left-handed.

Most errors in the golf swing occur because of very poor basic fundamentals. This is what makes the Medicus Vision Track effective. It properly gets the body in position before the swing so it easier to stay in the correct position during the swing. It is fairly easy and simple to use. Another positive about the Vision Track is the ability to hit balls with the apparatus.

Medicus Vision Track Benefits:

  • Golf Stance Alignment guide (feet, shoulders, clubface).
  • Ball placement guide
  • Distance guide from feet to ball
  • Clubhead takeaway guide
  • Eye Positioning – revolutionary technique for building a correct swing path.
  • Promotes keeping head behind ball at impact.
  • Promotes swinging through the contact area vs. hitting at ball.
  • Clarifies swing path as it relates to target line.
  • Home or golf course use
  • Reversible for lefthanders

Having used the R7 425 TP greatly prior to replacing it, I guarantee you, they’ve improved this baby; listen up why.

The Taylormade Superquad R7 features an inverted cone in the back of the face that enlarges the particular nice spot helping complete off center hits. The Taylormade Superquad R7 makes it simple to strike either shot. I came back to my original driver one day when my R7 fell out of the bag on the last green, and man what a change.

I wouldn’t lose sight of my Taylormade Superquad R7 anymore for the reason that drop in performance with anything different will take me way off my game. Once i pick up a game not having my clubs, Personally i think like a part of me is absent, particularly when teeing off. My golf has improved each of the last two seasons due to the fact I am getting good distance and consistency on my drives.

I hope you will try the Taylormade Superquad R7 for just one game to see the main difference it would make as part of your control and distance. If it doesn’t help off the tee, there has to be something critically wrong with your swing. If I had to shed any one club in my bag, it would have to be something other than my trudted Taylormade Superquad R7 iron, because I could hardly have a quality round without it.
