Tips For Booking A Golf Vacation

One of the first things that you should consider when booking a golf holiday is who, if anyone, you will go with. If you are going with a group then a great deal more planning is needed, whereas if you are going alone, things can get a great deal simpler. Making the reservations is easier the fewer people you go with but this does not make much difference if you decide to go through a travel agency which will do all of the hard work for you.

The budget is also another important factor and something that you need to think carefully about. A golf resort vacation, while more convenient, can also be a lot more expensive than staying elsewhere than in the resort itself. Though rarely cheap, you may, however, be able to find some special offers from time to time, so it is worth doing your research carefully. Your travel agency can also help you by letting you know about the latest special offers.

Booking the ideal holiday also depends on your own level of enthusiasm for golf. For true enthusiasts, accommodation, food and everything else will likely take second priority. Getting the best golf course is the most important aspect in these cases. In such cases, it is normally better to go only with fellow golf enthusiasts and then you do not have to worry about the various other factors that will keep everyone else happy.

You should shortlist all of the golf resorts that provide you with the quality, facilities and budget that you are looking for. Once you have done that, it is time to contact them to find out about tee times, booking, transport and various other aspects. It is important to learn exactly what is included in the package and what isn’t, otherwise you can easily end up going over budget. It is also essential to get any equipment you need far in advance so to avoid any risk of missing out.

If you are traveling with others who do not quite share your enthusiasm for golf, then you will need to take them into consideration as well. Aspects such as location are very important. Many golf courses around the world are located near various tourist sites and there are often plenty of cultural and entertainment venues nearby. If you are going with family or anyone who is not into golf so much, you should take care to find the best compromise so that you can enjoy your holiday without having to worry about others.

Golfer Annoyance

September 6, 2010 by articles

There are many things out there that really do annoy golfers whether it is the weather or perhaps forgetting to charge up their golf trolley batteries for the day, there is always something. so here are some of the things that people tend to do to really get on the bad side of a golfer.

Air Horn Anyone

there are people out there that this it is funny and amusing to take an air horn to the golf course, wait until they are about to take the shot and then let loose on them! A lot of people have done this before but the most famous people behind it all are the people behind Jackass. This is something that can really get on the nerves of some the golfers out there because if they miss the shot they are not allowed to take it again. I certainly would not be happy if this happened to me, especially if out of frustration I threw my electric golf trolley batteries at them and they busted!

Score Changing Time

when you are in the game and someone is tampering with the scores it can actually get very bad indeed and can cause a lot of arguments in the middle of the course, this is even more true if you are actually putting a wager on the game. Does anyone else remember that classic moment from the movie Goldfinger where Bonds cheats to beat Goldfinger and it ends up in a bit of a heat but Bond smoothly talks it over, that is the way you cheat!!

None of these things are fair game when it comes to playing golf and if you are playing with anyone or see anyone that is doing this then the best thing to actually do is report them to the captain of the course and it will be dealt with! Other than this get those battery to fit Hillbilly charged up and go and enjoy a game of golf!

Heading Out On The Golf Course?

When it comes to heading out on the golf course and having a good days worth of golfing out on the course you need to know what things you are going to need for the game. there is always something that people forget when it comes to something like this and you need to remember the important things.

The Clubs

without these kinds of things you are going to be very lost indeed so make sure these are your top priority. Make sure you have all of the clubs in a nice bag and you could even think about taking that golf battery or if you are really clever hook up one of those mobility batteries to the thing.

Drink Anyone?

You always need to make sure you are taking drinks with you because the last thing you want to happen is you falling ill because you have not drunk enough. packing a couple of drinks and putting ice packs in there too is going to insure you keep it cool all day.

Clothes

when it comes to playing golf, most people will know that wearing the right kind of clothes is very important indeed and you need to be aware that there are rules on what clubs want people to wear when it comes to this. Make sure you know these rules and you will be fine.

Make sure you don’t try and fix your own powered golf trolley up using something like motorcycle batteries because it is going to sound horrible and golfers will not appreciate it at all and you could get kicked off the course for it!

All in all just make sure you are being careful when it comes to playing in the heat and you pack all of the things that you need and you will be fine!

Golf – Ladies Golf Fashion – What To Wear On The Fairways

September 1, 2010 by articles

Are you just beginning to get into the habit of playing golf? Do you see other lady golfers playing and wonder what you should wear when playing golf? Let’s face it! Golf is a fashionable sport. And every time you get on that fairway is another chance to show off by wearing the latest and trendiest in ladies golf fashion.

Whenever I have heard of any Tour player employ the services of a sports psychologist, that golfer is usually someone who is desperate to find the answers as to why they can’t win more golf tournaments. In my view, the answer to that question is simple: they are not mentally tough enough because they don’t have enough confidence in their own abilities.

Confidence in your abilities is the biggest key to being able to perform under pressure. However, confidence does not just appear in your game over night. Confidence only appears after a lot of hard work on your game, and from playing a lot of golf!

I just viewed a video of Lee Trevino. He said “….you won’t learn much from me…I never had a mental approach. I got my confidence from hard work.”

Trevino worked hard on his game, but that is not all. I’ve read stories of him before his days on the Tour showing up for a match with no money in his pocket and making lots of bets. You want to talk about pressure! Well, that is how you simulate the pressure of a golf tournament. You have to repeatedly put yourself in the position where something is on the line when you stand up to the tee on the 18th hole, or you are faced with that all important 6 foot putt. If you never do that with yourself, you will never learn how to deal with the pressure that just comes from playing in the 3rd flight in your club championship!

I find it very interesting that you find very few, if any, books written about the mental game by any top player. Sure, there are books that SPECULATE about how Tiger Woods’ developed his mental toughness, but he has never written about the topic himself. The same may be said about Jack Nicklaus who is arguably Tiger’s equal in terms of mental toughness.

On the other hand, there are huge numbers of books written about the golf swing, putting or short game. The fact is, none of these players worry about the mental game. Instead, they focus on executing their swing as best they can, not on some mental tip that suddenly transforms them into a totally relaxed player!

Hunter Mahan shocked critiques when he went to tours with this material. And amazingly, he proved his point. Compared to yesterday’s icons, today’s golfers swing to 300 yards at average.

Though body fit, Under Armour Golf is surprisingly breathable. It has incorporated a stretch moisture management and UPF protection when under the sun. And of course it’s wrinkle free.

A few weeks later in our club championship, I shot rounds of 74-68 to finish in a tie for first, and lost in a playoff. Now, I knew how to play a great round under pressure to have a chance at winning.

So, you see, gaining this confidence is not something that happens over night. You can learn all the mental tips you want, but if you have a flawed golf swing and no confidence in the ability of that swing to hold up under pressure, you simply won’t perform.

If you really want to improve your scores, improve your golf swing and work hard on your putting and short game. Also, play as often as possible, and play with a little something on the line! That is how you will learn to lower your scores!

Backyard Putting Greens – They Are So Easy To Set Up

September 1, 2010 by articles

Thought about setting up a nice backyard putting green at home? A lot of golfers already grabbed this opportunity by their horns and practice from the comfort of their home and take more strokes off their game every week.

Many golfers dream of owning their own backyard putting green to practice any time they want. But too many don’t make it a concrete goal and don’t find out how easy it can be to set up your own backyard putting green.

. Of course, there is some delicate work involved. But not something that requires a rocket scientist or anything like that. All you need is pay some attention to the detail and do the work with the love you have for the game.

First, have a good look at the site where you want to put up the backyard putting green. You can do this essential first step literally right now! It costs no money to go out, have good hard look at your backyard and envision a nice and beautiful putting green.

Have a close look at your surroundings.

If there is lots of traffic you might need to raise the fence a bit. But this is just consideration in case you might practice a few full swing. We’re just practicing some putting.

Next, look at the soil. Get rid of any lumps and stones and generally tidy it up as good as you can. Make sure you can create a level and flat green in your backyard. You can easily accomplish this with a shovel, a pick and a rake, it’s very easy to do. It’s not that hard – everyone can do that.

After that’s done, lay on some good, quality soil for your putting green to grow on. Rake it evenly across the whole area and make sure it’s about an inch thick.

If you want to put in some extra effort, lay out a bed of sand before you rake out the soil.

Next up is the irrigation system. I recommend you talk to an expert about this, but you can easily get advice online. You have to water the green at the same hour every day because the grass is very delicate and sensitive. If you just read it like this it might sound like a hassle, but you get used to it after a week. It will come naturally to you and you might even find some joy and pride in it.

After you made yourself familiar with the maintenance of the green, I recommend you set up a maintenance schedule and check back with an expert for him to review it. Mowing cycles and watering are very important that you have that nailed.

Supervision of the putting green is important. We have to know the peculiar needs of the grass type we have placed in our backyard putting green.

But when we have our backyard putting green already functional its enjoyment will more than outweigh the necessary maintenance work.

Are There Reasons For Watching Golf Live?

A lot of people certainly do not think that golf is a very good sport to pay money to go and watch but I seriously think they are wrong. well when it comes to catching golf on the television there are many things you miss from not being there. these are some of the main reasons you should go and watch some live golf.

Surprising

If you arrive on the golf course in the morning and the wind is blowing a gale and it is raining a lot then you are actually in for a great day of watching the sport. this is because the harder the weather conditions are the harder the game is which makes it great to watch. The weather can change very suddenly especially in courses such as St Andrews in Scotland which is a great course to watch the sport. not even some of the pros can actually handle the bad weather sometimes which is amusing. They all run to their golf carts and power up that battery to fit Powakaddy and those lithium golf batteries.

Crowd Are Great

believe it or not the crowd in golf are more active than you might think and although they are no where near as loud as the football fans they are still going wild if someone sinks a great putt or gets a hole in one, it is a really great atmosphere.

Tiger Woods (although having done a few bad things) has a huge following and has done a lot of good for golf.

If you have not gone to see a live game before then it is well worth giving it a go, the very least you could do is rent golf batteries and go and play a round of 18!

The Four Golf Majors

The big boys of golf battle it out often when it comes to golf but there are four main tournaments of the year in which they really go at each other to try and get ahead of one another in the overall rankings. As you may know, Tiger Woods has won 14 majors and is only second in record to 18 from Jack Nicklaus. these are some of the greatest events of the year when it comes to golf! Get those golf batteries charged up and get ready to go!

Masters Tournament

this one is of course an invitational and is played at the Augusta club in Georgia USA. this course has been home to this tournament since 1934 and has been up there for the top golf course for a while, something I really do disagree on! each hole on this course is actually named after a tree or shrub which adds a little touch to things, the first hole is named Tea Olive to give an example. this is the only course where the major does not change year on year so fans can get really familiar with it. After the end of this you will need to charge those leisure batteries!

US Open Championship

this one is not always in the same place although it does stick to the USA, it is hosted by USGA. It is held in June. The great thing about it is that it is held a different course each year which means fans can experience courses that they would perhaps not be allowed to get into otherwise. No marine batteries in site for this course!

Open Championship

this one is held in the UK and can be held at a number of key courses which is good. This year it was held in the amazing St Andrews course. It is always played in July.

PGA Championship

The final major in the year is played in August and is once again played at several locations within the USA.

Celebs That Love Golf

It is safe to say that golf is a very relaxing sport to play and although many people think that celebrities have an easy and relaxing lifestyle the reality behind it all is that they do not. Here are some of the celebrities out there that like firing up those golf trolley batteries and go and play a round of golf from time to time.

Hugh Grant

Grant is a bit famous for being a bit of a golfing addict and is a regular player in the pro-am tournaments held at Sunningdale golf course. Not only does he have a membership at this golf club but he is also pictured in famous Scottish courses like St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie. if you think it would be a good idea to actually have a round of golf with him then you could be wrong, he tends to put a lot of money on his games. I would love to beat him and win some of his money though!

Bruce Forsyth

Good old Brucie is a big fan of golf and keeps fit which is admired by pretty much everyone at his age. He does Tibetan stretches for thirty minutes a day and drinks a flask of Complan with a dash of Sherry to keep his strength up. Bruce lives mostly around Wentworth Golf club which is because he loves the sport so much, he plays as much as possible.

Meat Loaf

Meat Loaf likes to play golf in his spare time and has taken part in many celebrity golf tournaments raising money for charity which is always a good thing.

it is not just normal people that play the game to relax as you can see! As they get older they fire up the lithium golf battery and mobility batteriesto help get them around the course!

What Is Great About Golf?

A lot of people around the world play golf and it is safe to say that over the past few years golf has really kicked off thanks to sportsman like Tiger Woods. is there anything that makes the sport a great one to play? well yes there is and here are some of those great reasons.

No Fights

i cannot think of a time in golf where you will actually see a fight in golf, it is not like football. this is certainly something the sport needs to be proud of. Golf is one of the sports that set a great example to kids which means you can take a kid to a golf game and know for a fact there will not be any fighting, loud jeering or swearing of any kind. it is this that makes it great for children to get into and really proves to be a good sport.

Exercise

so many people think that golf is a lazy sport, this is not true. Not everyone uses that  golf battery to get around. In fact most people will skip those lithium golf batteries altogether and walk the course. When playing a whole round of 18 it is safe to say that you can get plenty of exercise and you are out all day in the fresh air which is great for the body. Things like electric golf trolley batteriesare useful for people that perhaps cannot manage the whole course on foot and this is also where golf carts come into it.

Fun

Golf is actually a really fun sport to play and enjoy and this is a great thing indeed, it is great to get together with mates and play a game.

if golf is something you have not experienced I would give it a try!

In the end, the choice to do something like this is yours!
